For Game of Thrones fans

In Game of Thrones, the Kliss Fortress plays the role of the city of Meereen. In the fifth season, after freeing the city from its slave masters, Daenerys is welcomed triumphantly by the inhabitants.

The alleys of Split bring the city of Meereen to life. Daenerys sends Grey Worm and some Unsullied dressed as slaves to encourage the slaves of the city to revolt against their masters. To seek revenge, the former slave masters form the "Sons of the Harpy." They rise up in the streets of the city and set a trap for Grey Worm and his Unsullied. Scenes were filmed in Dominisova Street and under the dome of the Vestibule of the palace (Vestibulum of Diocletian’s palace), next to the central square on Iza Vestibula Street. The basement of Diocletian's Palace also appears as the place where Daenerys' dragons are kept in the underground of the city of Meereen. You can access the basements of Diocletian's Palace in Split through the Aenea Gate, which faces the port. Some craft and art merchants are located under the main nave at the entrance of the cellars. The entrance to the museum section is subject to admission fee but allows for a more detailed view of the locations where these scenes were filmed.
